Phyllis Arlene Chambers was born March 30, 1947 in Knoxville, Iowa the daughter of Ronald and Betty Jean (Bacus) Cooper.
She was raised in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School. In 1968 Phyllis began her career at the Knoxville V.A. Medical Center.
Through the years, she also worked part time jobs at Harrison’s the People’s Store, Eagle’s Club and Dan’s Village Pump.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Dwight Chambers on August 12, 1981. Phyllis retired from the V.A. as the Assistant Chief of Veteran’s Canteen Service in 2013.

In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed crafts, arranging flowers and the occasional trip to South Dakota.
Phyllis passed away Friday, February 13, 2026 at her home at the age of 78 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Betty Jean; husband, Raymond and her sister, Patricia Lunsford.
Those left to honor Phyllis’ memory include her nieces and nephews: Kristina (Steven Bitters) Wilkins, Stacy (Ryan) Mason, Arissa Busick, Kaden Busick, Ashley (Bobby Schram) Hegwood, and Adam Hegwood, and many other family members and friends.
