Phil was born on March 19, 1955, to Richard and Ethel (Moody) Dishman. Through the years he had many passions and hobbies.

One of his favorite pastimes was racing. Whether it was watching NASCAR or sprints or participating in a no-holds-barred go-kart league with his dad and brother, racing was something that always made Phil smile.

Living in Knoxville gave him a fantastic opportunity to see racing at its finest. Phil even had the opportunity to work on the fire crew at the Knoxville Speedway.

Phil loved being outside and enjoying nature. He especially loved paddling downriver with his friends. Music was also something that gave him great joy. He attended countless concerts over the years, including Willie Nelson, The Allman Brothers Band, and Bonnie Raitt just to name a few.

Phil was also a great cook. His ham and bean soup was always a family favorite. More than anything else, Phil was a kind and gentle soul. He cherished his time with those he loved. Phil’s love and kindness did not stop with his family. He had a great affection for animals, especially dogs.
