Penny Lee (Mathews) Rinehart was born on July 14, 1955 in Iowa City, Iowa to Rozella Marie Mathews.

Penny attended and graduated from Knoxville High School, class of 1973. After graduation she was a Nursed Aid at the V.A. Hospital; worked with Colonial Bread as a clerk; the office manager for Dr. Larry Formanek; and later returning to work with the V.A. Hospital as a security officer until her retirement in 1999.

After her retirement she was a homemaker, enjoying her family, especially her grandchildren.

On June 30, 1974 in Knoxville, Iowa Penny and John Lewis Rinehart were married. They shared 37 years of marriage and were blessed with two daughters Amber and Kelly Jo.

Penny enjoyed growing plants and flowers, and was an active member of the Faith Baptist Church of Knoxville.

Penny went home to be with her Lord at her home in Knoxville on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the age of 56 years, one month, and 4 days.

Penny is survived by her husband John Rinehart of Knoxville; two daughters Amber (Mike) Vaske of Knoxville and Kelly Jo (Mark) Brown of Jasper, TN; four grandchildren Tyler John and Alyssa Dawn Vaske, Elijah Richard and Micah Nathaniel Brown.

Penny is preceded in death by her grandparents Chet and Neva Mathews; her mother Rozella Mathews; and her father-in-law Robert Rinehart.

Visitation for Penny will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Sunday, August 21st, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville, with Penny’s family present.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 22, at the Faith Baptist Church, with Curtis Gordon officiating

A private family burial will follow services on Tuesday, August 23rd. In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund.
