Peggy Jane (Forst) Maitre, 78, of Knoxville and formerly of Guttenberg, passed away
peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, January 21, 2008.

Peggy was born on March
14, 1929 in Pleasantville to Gail Harley Forst and Mary Elizabeth Steiert Forst.
Her formative years were spent around Pleasantville where she attended country school.
As a teenager, she moved to Knoxville and lived with an older sister so she could
work and finish high school.

She was united in marriage to George Robert Maitre
on September 27, 1947, in Princeton, Missouri. To this marriage 4 children were born:
Kristy Sue, Penny Marie, Mark Robert, and Robin Elizabeth. The family lived in a
variety of places until finally settling in Guttenberg, Iowa in 1963.

Peggy continued to make her home there until November of 2006 when she returned to Knoxville. She
thought Guttenberg was the most beautiful place on earth and loved watching the
river. She retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992 after 17 years
of service where she enjoyed working with Brenda and Becky. She was an avid stamp
and coin collector. She felt fortunate that her children all received excellent
educations in Guttenberg.

Peggy also took great pride that her children were all
successful in their careers and business endeavors. Peggy also enjoyed visiting
with her friends in Guttenberg; Carol Tomkins, Carla Ferguson, Phyllis Stabler,
Meredith Moser and many others. She cherished these friendships.

Those preceding her in death are her parents; one son, Mark Robert; sisters, Joella Davis and Geraldine
Nichols; brother, Jack Forst; and son-in-law, Carl Revell.
