Funeral services for Patricia Joann (Salsberry) Bettis, 63, of Knoxville, who died of a heart attack, Friday, May 10, 2002 at her home, were held Tuesday, May 14, at Bybee & Davis
Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Rev. Peter J. Peterson officiated at the services. Jim
Kidder was an organist. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery. Casketbearers were be
Kevin Colyn, Joel and John Followill, Christopher Kaplan, and Alec and Jeff Kline.
Pat was born on March 9, 1939 in Iowa City, the daughter of William and Vera (Kennedy)
Salsberry. She lived most of her life in Knoxville. She married Delmar Hoch on April
17, 1960. To this union three daughters were born, Pam, Sherrie and Brenda. Pat
was a homemaker most of her life.
On August 13, 1979 she married Richard Bettis.
Pat adored her pets; she had two cats and a dog and they were all great company
for each other. Most of all she loved her family and she especially enjoyed spending
time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and her biological mother,
Jean Stevens. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and John Emerson, Sherrie and Larry Kline, and Brenda and Bob Kaplan, all of Knoxville; three sisters,
Connie McCombs and Carolyn Kennedy both of Des Moines and Joyce Gunderson of Rockford,
Ill.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other family members
and friends.
