Pat Harold Raymond Moss was born on March 28, 1949, in Oskaloosa.

He was the son of Raymond Moss and Juanita (Hartshorn) Moss.

Raised on a farm near Harvey, he attended Knoxville schools and graduated in 1967.
He enjoyed sports, FFA, and 4-H while in school. Following graduation, Moss attended meat-cutting school and worked in the
same department at Hy-Vee.

He served in the Army and was stationed in Vietnam for two years. After being honorably discharged in 1971, he returned to Knoxville, where he tended a bar and worked at the Veterans Affairs hospital for two years.
In 1973, he took a job with the city of Knoxville, working for the Cemetery and Parks Department.
He held this job until he recently retired.

Through the years, he also volunteered at the Knoxville Rescue Unit and the Knoxville Fire Department, serving as chief
for five years. He retired from the department in 1994. Moss also served on the
Knoxville Raceway Fire and Ambulance Unit, where some say he was “instrumental”
in getting proper fire protection gear and equipment for the Raceway Safety Team.

In 1982, Moss met his wife, Vicki King. They were married on Aug. 2, 1991. He was a
member of the VFW John Myers Post Number 3519 and the American Legion BatyTucker
Post Number 168.

Moss died June 19, 2005, at the age of 56. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Fawcett; his first wife, Susan Moss, and his brother-in-law Darrell DeJoode. He is survived by his wife; son, Chad (Carrie) of Knoxville; granddaughter, Kaylin; siblings, Raydene DeJoode of Hayward. Wis.; Mike Moss (Kay) and Mahala Cox, both of Indianola, and many nieces, nephews, and more.
