Norma Jo (Grill) Hull, age 91, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 6, 2026 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Norma was born on August 1, 1934 in Knoxville, Iowa to Joseph Carl and Louise Jordan Grill.
She attended Knoxville High School. After high school graduation in 1952, she attended Drake University where she studied business, finance and was very active in her sorority.
Norma married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Dr. Charlie Hull in 1954.
Norma dedicated her life to her family, raising their three children-Debra, Lynn and Chuck in Des Moines. She was a devoted wife, mother, and volunteer.
She enjoyed church, medical and community activities. She was a member of the Des Moines Golf and Country Club, Mercy Hospital Guild, Iowa Medical Auxiliary and the Polk County Medical Auxiliary, serving as it’s president from 1977-1978.
A woman of strong faith, Norma was a devoted Christian with God as her guiding light and family at the center of her life.
She enjoyed playing tennis and golfing with her family and friends and she and Charlie treasured traveling together creating lasting memories throughout the years.
Charlie and Norma enjoyed many winters together at their condo on Estero Island in Southwest Florida. Norma loved every minute of being a grandmother and was known as Gigi. She wanted to be remembered with joy.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Charles Hull; her daughter, Lynn Keat; and her parents, Joseph and Louise Grill.
Those left to celebrate Norma’s life include her daughter; Debra Hubbartt (Jim) and son; Chuck Hull (Toni) both of Adel, Iowa; grandchildren; Chris Kopp (Cassandra) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Dr. Jason Kopp (Jennifer) of Waukee, Iowa; Faith and CJ Hull of Adel, Iowa; two step grandchildren, Jody Winfrey (Matt) and Kody Keat; numerous great grandchildren and many extended family members and dear friends.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Edgewater Senior Living Community, 9225 Cascade Avenue, West Des Moines, Iowa on May 30th from 2:00-3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Norma’s honor to the American Cancer Society or Edgewater’s Good Samaritan Fund.
