A sweet little old lady blew her last kiss goodbye. Norma Lee (Conley) Hassig, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, surrounded by family at Heritage Care Center, Iowa Falls.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with burial in Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Norma was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Mona Conley.
She graduated from the Knoxville Community School.
On Nov. 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Paul Hassig at Knoxville. They were married for almost 65 years before his passing in 2011.
In 1953 they moved to Iowa Falls and opened Hassig OK Tire, which stayed in business for more than 50 years.
Norma enjoyed bowling, golfing, and gardening in her younger days.
She was also a long-time member of the United Methodist Church where she enjoyed volunteering her time. Her sweet, sweet smile and gentle disposition will be missed at the care center and by those who knew her.
Norma is survived by her children: Roger Dwight (Mary) Hassig of Highland Ranch, Colo., Mike (Mary Weeks) Hassig of Iowa Falls, Kevin Hassig of Iowa Falls, and Mary (Todd) Blohm of Iowa Falls; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one soon-to-be great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Mona; her husband, Paul; a daughter, Jane Ann Modlin; and a grandson, Dustin Hassig.
