Nancy Ruth (Carter) Madsen was born on Jan. 15, 1948, in Knoxville. She was one of three children born to Grace, May Kingery and Charles Maurice Carter. Nancy grew up and
attended school in Knoxville, graduating in 1966.

On January 25, 1969, Nancy was
united in marriage to Keith Watertor. To this union, two children were born. She
was later united in marriage to Wesley Juel Madsen on October 29, 1982. Nancy worked
for many years at the VA Hospital in Knoxville.

In later years she was the Administrative
Assistant to the Warden at the Newton Correctional Facility. Nancy spent many hours
singing as a young child and in church choirs as an adult. She and Wes were very
active in the Newton Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Nancy read to keep busy, She did
various crafts, especially holiday decorations. Sewing was a major pass time. Nancy
made clothes, did counted cross-stitch and some quilting. Family gatherings were
always special with Nancy preparing a wide variety of foods. During the summer months
Nancy enjoyed tending her vegetable garden.

Nancy Madsen passed away on Thursday,
November 11, 2004, at the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center at the age of 56 years,
9 months and 26 days after a brief illness. Her parents and two brothers, Gloyd and-
Lloyd Carter preceded Nancy in death.

Those left to mourn her passing are her husband
of 22 years, Wesley Madsen of Newton; 4 daughters, Angela Jo Watertor of Indianola,
Julie Lynn Watertor of Des Moines, Dam Lee and her husband, Rick Baumgarten of Lee’s
Summit, Mo. and Deborah Marie Madsen of Raytown, Mo.; 2 sons, Wesley Jay and his
wife, Kara Madsen of Kansas City, Mo. and Wade Alan and his wife, Kari Madsen of
Barrington, Ill.; 9 grandchildren. and one sister-in-law, Lila Carter of Knoxville.
