Services for Mary Muriel (Ghrist) Galvin, 88, who died August 26, 1990 at Community Nursing
Home in Pella, were held August 30 at Williams Funeral Home. Interment was in Graceland
Cemetery.

Rev. K. Wayne Hoehns officiated at the services. Music was provided by Linda Gehling,
organist and Stephanie Young, vocalist.

Mrs. Galvin was born April 6, 1902 at Knoxville, the daughter of William and Ella
Mary Cooper Ghrist.

She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1920.

On July 3, 1921 at Rock Island, Ill., she married Dee L. Galvin. She lived nearly
all of her married life in Marion County.

She was a memeber of Rebekah Lodge, serving as president of the Rebekah Assembly of Iowa in 1949 and 1950 and as assemby treasurer for 25
years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son, William; and two
sisters. She is survived by one son, Lee of Glendale, Ariz; two daughters-in-law,
Louise Galvin of Knoxville and Mary Galvin of Glendale, Arizona. five grandchildren;
four grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Lela Smith.

Paullbearers were Frank Elliott, Ralph England, Chester Gibson, Melvin Godfrey, Eugene Hays and Ollie Milledge. Honorary bearers were A.M. Black and Ivan Allen.
