Mildred Ann “Millie” (Dennison) Flanagan, of St. Paul, 86, a former longtime resident of West
Des Moines, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on March 2, 2013.

Born Jan. 20, 1927, in Knoxville, she graduated in 1944 from Knoxville High School.
She obtained a teaching certificate from Iowa Teachers’ College, taught in a one-room
schoolhouse married high school sweetheart Robert Flanagan and became a mother
and full-time homemaker. She was later employed at IMMC, Wesley Acres Retirement
Community and Rice School.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Ann (Terry) Huntrods, Kathleen (Gene)
Ramsay and Steve (Jane) Flanagan; grandchildren, Alecia Ramsay (Craig Sherwin),
James Ramsay, John Ramsay, Kyle (Iman) Flanagan, and Bill Flanagan; great-grandchildren,
Abbott, Isaac, Eli, Liam, Aisha, and Jaffar.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Kenney, father, Aaron Thurman Dennison,
step-father, Norris Kenney, and former husband, Robert W. Flanagan.

Mildred ”Millie” enjoyed gardening, reading, movies, music, travel, volunteering,
and most of all, time spent with family and friends. She easily made new friendsMildred Dennison
wherever she went and also enjoyed remaining in contact with her many longtime friends.

A Celebration of Life Service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at West
Des Moines United Methodist Church, Eighth and Grand, West Des Moines.

Memorials preferred to West Des Moines United Methodist Church, HCI Hospice Care
Services or Friends of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, St. Paul, Minn.
