Melody Ann (Light) Hulgan was born on May 31, 1962, in Knoxville to Donald and Vivian (Fee) Light.

She was raised and attended school in Knoxville. Melody tended bar at the Eagles, Patty's and the V.F.W. She worked at Casey's for a total of eight years. On June 6, 2003, she married Tom Hulgan at the Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden in Knoxville.

Melody enjoyed the simple things in life, watching birds and eagles or tending to her roses. Her greatest joy was her family and she was especially proud to be a grandmother.

Melody died on Oct. 4, 2005, at her home at the age of 43.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and husband, Robert DeHeer.

Survivors include her husband, Tom; children, Jack Turner (Megan) of Ottumwa, Josh Turner (Alisha) of Knoxville and Robert DeHeer of Knoxville; step-son, Cole Hulgan of LaCrosse, Wis.; three grandchildren; brothers, Steven Light (Christy) of Carlisle, Vance Light (Debbie) of St. Peters, Mo., Donald Light of Knoxville and David Light of St. Augustine, Fla; sisters, Nola Watson (Randy) of Osceola and Brenda Light of Pleasantville and many other family members and friends.

Private family services will be held at a later date with Dr. Craig Bex officiating.
