Mary Lou (Taylor) DeJoode of Pleasant Hill, 73, passed away on June 5, 2017 from a brain aneurysm at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. Per Mary’s wishes, there will be no services.

Mary was born one of 10 children on May 16, 1944, in New Virginia, Iowa to Orlo Frank and Izetta (McClintic) Taylor.

She was employed with 3M for twenty-three years and retired in 2002. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, floral gardening, interior decorating, and helping others. She was known for her delicious lasagna and irresistible hot sausage sandwiches.

She will be missed by her children, Jan (Brian) Wehrle of New Sharon, Aleta De Joode of Pleasant Hill, and Kenneth Troy De Joode of Urbandale; grandsons, Joey, Corey, and Brady De Joode, and Matthew (Elizabeth) and Caleb Wehrle; great-grandchildren, Aubree and Landen; and furry friends, cats, Boo and Max and dog, Macy.

She was preceded in death by her infant granddaughter; parents; her siblings, “Bud” of Bevington, Merrill of Indianola, Bill of Panora, Russell of the Ozarks, MO, Ron, Vaneta Howell, and Karen De Vos all of Knoxville, Ruth Pinegar of Pella and Aleta “Nicki” Ginder of West Des Moines; her pup companion and baby, Lance the Pomeranian; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
