Mary Margaret (Osborn) Goff, age 90, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday morning, October 22, 2020, at Westridge Specialty Care in Knoxville, Iowa.

Mary’s wishes were to be cremated. Due to Covid-19, there will be no visitation and no services are planned at this time. A private family burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery at a later date.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Samuel and Lillian (Kissinger) Osborn, and her only sister, Kathleen Loreto of New York.

Mary was born on July 14, 1930, above the Osborn Pharmacy, where Mary and Kathy spent many hours playing together outside the pharmacy of their beloved grandfather, E.O. Osborn.

Mary graduated from Knoxville High School and attended Stephens College in Missouri. She then moved to Chicago where she worked for TWA. She returned home and married her high school sweetheart, William Goff, in December 1951. They raised two children, Steven and Tracy while living in Knoxville. Mary was a kind loving mother and wife and was surrounded by many loving friends.

Mary and Bill spent 69 years together and loved to travel to foreign countries during their middle years. Mary was an avid reader and belonged to several book clubs. She enjoyed watching classic movies, loved beautiful artwork, and listening to music.

Their greatest journey was representing Bill’s Iowa Rotary District to Sweden in 1976 as an exchange couple. They visited over 20 different Swedish Rotary Clubs telling them about Knoxville, Iowa and living in the middle of the United States of America.

They moved to Des Moines in 1996 and returned home to Knoxville in 2013, where they resided at Homestead of Knoxville. They also enjoyed wintering in Florida. Mary was a very spiritual person and a member of the Methodist Church in Knoxville.

She will be remembered with love by her husband, William Robert Goff; son Steven (Betsy) Goff of River Falls, WI; their children Meghan (Ryan) Lindberg of St. Paul, MN,Mary Osborn and Eleanor (Gerad) Stratton of River Falls, WI; great-grandchildren Lenore and Michael; daughter Tracy (Stephen) Coon of Knoxville, Iowa; their children Craig (Molly) Coon of Norwalk, Iowa and Meredith Coon of Des Moines, Iowa. Mary is also survived by one nephew and several nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Mary to the Knoxville Public Library. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Mary’s family with services.
