Mary Louise (Brown) Brooks, 75, Nevada, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 29, 1932, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Ray Edmond Brown and Edna Alice Long Brown.
She married Dale Vernon Brooks on July 21, 1967, in Miami, Okla., and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2001.
Mary was born and raised in Iowa. She came to Nevada in 1968 and spent the rest of her life here. She worked for many years at Nelly Don as well as Nevada State Hospital, retiring in 1995. Mary was an active member in the First Baptist Church and sang in the church choir for many years
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Weeks and her husband Steven, of Kodiak, Ark; two grandchildren, Brittany Weeks and Gavin Weeks, both of Kodiak, Ark; three brothers, James Brown, of Kansas City, Mo., Richard Brown, Joshua Tree, Calif., and John Brown, of Elsberry, Mo., and one sister, Betty Egwood, of St. Charles, Mo. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Dr. William Cox officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m., in Oswego Cemetery, Oswego, Kan.
Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6-7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
