Marvin Dwain Carter age 82, of Knoxville, passed away Friday morning, June 12, 2015, at the Hospice Comfort House of Pella. Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M., Monday, June 15, 2015, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville.
Marvin’s family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville, with Pastor Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery.
Marvin was born in Marion County, Iowa on March 15, 1933, to Lewis and Verdie (Pitt) Carter. Marvin attended Knoxville High School. He lived for a short time in Pleasantville and most of his life he lived with his brother Alfred and sister Nornie Mae in Flagler, Iowa.
In 1955 Marvin began working at Pella Corp. He worked for 37 years at Pella Corp., retiring in 1992.
Marvin was a member of the Harvey Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed picking berries and mushroom hunting. He was a lifelong fisherman and he especially loved his family and their time together.
Marvin is survived by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Grace Carter; and many generations of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Verdie (Pitt) Carter; three sisters, Harriet Chambers, Grace McDaniel, and Nornie Mae Carter; and four brothers, Delmer, Gerald, James, and Alfred Carter.
A memorial in Marvin’s memory has been established at the Harvey Assembly of God Church.
