Marvin H. Barlow was born on October 14, 1921, in Chariton to Emol A. and Mildred O. Sandahl Barlow. He attended school in Chariton and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1941.

He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Marvin married Frieda E. Haberstroh on Jan. 16, 1949, in Knoville. He worked as a plumbing, heating, and sheet metal worker from 1946 to 1958. He enrolled in Drake University and graduated with a degree in business in 1961.

Marvin went to work for the Internal Revenue Service as a special agent in the Intelligence Division, retiring in 1981.

He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville. He currently was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the Knoxville Morning Kiwanis. He also prepared income tax for seniors at the Knoxville Senior Center.

Marvin was a contributor to Drake University and the University of Iowa. He has not missed a Drake Relays or an Iowa home football game in the last 28 years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends..

Marvin died on Aug. 28, 2004, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 83. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 1981.

He is survived by a brother Richard of Lompoc, Calif., And many relatives and friends.
