Mark Iver Neil, age 67 of Knoxville, Iowa died Sunday morning, September 25, 2016, east of Knoxville.

A memorial service for Mark will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Winfield funeral Home of Knoxville. Marks family will be greeting friends from 1:00 P.M., until service time Saturday.

Mark was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on February 27, 1949, the son of Robert “Bob” Iver and Irma Grace (Giebrich) Neil. Neil was raised in Des Moines, attending grade school for a few years before moving to Knoxville.

Mark played football in Junior High and High School and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1967. He went to Ellsworth College after graduation for one year before returning to Knoxville.

Mark purchased the Knoxville Alternator & Starter Service in 1971. Mark has been the owner and operator for 45 years.
On March 24, 1973 at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Iowa, Mark and Judy Wilson were united in marriage. They shared 43 years of marriage before Mark’s passing and have been blessed with three children; Susan, Joe, and Andy.
Mark rode motorcycles almost all his life. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, visiting, and the outdoors, especially fishing.

Mark is survived by his wife of 43 years Judy Neil of Knoxville; three children, Susan Ernst (Jason) of Clinton, Joe Neil (Stacia) of Knoxville, and Andy Neil of Knoxville; and four grandchildren, Jared and Brandon Ernst and Savannah and Sydney Neil. Mark is also survived by his mother Irma Neil of Knoxville; one brother, Paul Neil (Vianna) of Grand Junction, Colorado; and two sisters, Nila (Roy) Landsperger of Otley, and Martha Tibbetts of Alamosa, Colorado. Mark was preceded in death by his father Robert “Bob” Neil.

A memorial has been established in Mark’s name to the Knoxville Fire & Rescue Department. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Mark’s family with arrangements. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com.
