Marion Andrew Kingery, 89, of Newton, died Tuesday, March 14 at Park Centre Health Care in Newton.

Kingery was born to Henry Walter Kingery and Ada Estella Andrew on Aug. 31, 1916, in rural Marion County. He graduated from Knoxville High School.

He married Helen C. “Jackie” Campbell in Knoxville on March 11, 1937. They had three daughters.

Kingery was an Army Air Force pilot in World War II. His interests included gardening,
hunting, fishing, and collecting ‘rocks and arrowheads. He grew roses and he would
always get a ‘kiss from the ladies he gave roses to.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Newton Post #111, a member of 40
& 8, a member of DAV, VFW, and the Ninth Iowa Military Calvary. He worked as a production
‘scheduler at Maytag for nearly 32 years until his retirement in 1975.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Jackie; daughter, Judy; two brothers,
Elmer and Lloyd and a sister, Emma.

He is survived by his daughters Kay (Jerry) Postma of Rhodes and Norma “Rusti” (Bill)
Riddle of Colfax; son-in-law, Terry Dodd of Roswell, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services were held on March 18 with burial in Dunreath Cemetery in rural Monroe. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Park Centre Staff Christmas Fund.
