Marion Howard Goff was born in Knoxville, Iowa, on September 9, 1938, the son of Jim Goff and Juanita (Covey) Goff. He spent his early years working on the family farm, north of Pershing, with his father.

Marion, attended the Liberty Country School through grade school and was active in 4H and FFA.

He later attended high school in Knoxville where he continued his involvement with 4H and FFA, and he also joined the high school football team, which was later inducted into the hall of Fame. Marion, graduated from Knoxville High School, class of 1956.

He continued working as a farmer, later he worked at Surge Milk Equipment and ran the Clark Gas Sation and the Ice House, in Knoxville. Marion was part owner in Romar Auto Parts Store. Marion began a career at 3M later in his life before retiring in 1999, at the age of 61 years old. Marion was a proud father of ten children; Mike Goff, Mark Goff, Kenneth Goering, Reuben Comer, Lisa Olson, Judy Lenger, Bryan Goff, Gary Comer, Lynette Goff, and James Goering.

He did not miss an opportunity to partake in the kids’ activities or teaching them about farming. Marion took extra time to teach his children and later grandchildren about how the best tractors are always green and the many different types of farming, but preferred raising sheep and chickens.

Marion was an active member of the Pleasantville Baptist Church. He enjoyed starting out his day meeting with his friends from the “Hardee’s Coffee Club.” He also enjoyed attending Bluegrass music shows and being a grandfather.

Marion passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 77 years old.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Mike (Sherry) Goff of Knoxville, Mark (Lora) Goff of Chariton, Kenneth Goering of Las Vegas, NV, Reuben (Valerie) Comer of Knoxville, Lisa (Mark) Olson of Dickey, ND, Judy (Carl) Lenger of Knoxville, Gary Comer of Knoxville, and James (Rose) Goering of Las Vegas, NV.

Marion is also survived by his siblings; Susan (Dick) Rowland of Knoxville, Linda (Arnold) Agan of Monroe, Jane (Corwin) Berry of Monroe, Richard (Karen) Goff of Knoxville, Martha (John) Reed of Melcher Dallas, and Joyce Goff of Knoxville, as well as numerous grandkids, many great grandkids, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by loving wife; Gloria Goff, his son; Bryan Goff, daughter; Lynette Goff, one daughter-in-law; Wendy Comer, parents Jim and Juanita Goff; two grandsons; Arlo Goff and Christopher Comer, one nephew; Jamie Rankin.

Funeral services for Marion will begin at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Dyer Hudson Hall in Knoxville. Prior to services Marion’s family will be greeting friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Marion’s memory has been established for the United Methodist Church in Columbia and Hospice of Central Iowa. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting with services.
