Marion Collins Carson, 80, of Marion, died on June 27, 2007, at home. A remembrance
event was held on July 1 at Stewart Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Interment will
be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Marion was the daughter of
Jackson L. “Jay” Collins and Rema (Fry) Collins, of Knoxville. She was born on March
2, 1927, in Chicago Ill.

She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1944 and subsequently
from the University of Nebraska, the University of Iowa and the University of Dubuque
Theological Seminary. Marion was an advocate for lifetime learning and religious
freedom. She was an active member of the American Ethical Union (Ethical Culture).

Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Carson; her beloved parents; her
aunt, Gail (Fry) Walter Cunningham; and her step-mother, Alma (Larsen) Collins.
Marion is survived by her children: Joseph Walter Carson of San Francisco Calif.,
Sam Carson of Cedar Rapids, Harry Carson of Cedar Rapids and Emily Carson of Marion.

Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Foundation to benefit Guided
Independent Studies.
