Services for Marilyn Jo (Bradley) Houser, 61, of Centerville, who passed away April 8, 1991, will be held April 11 at the Drake Avenue Christian Church at 1:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Family visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Lange Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Helen will be officiating at the services.
Marilyn Jo Houser was born in Albert Lea, Minn. on June 21, 1929, the daughter of Harvey and Martha (Norris) Bradley.
She was united in marriage to Merle D. Houser on June 20, 1954, in Knoxville. She was a 1947 graduate of Knoxville High School. She attended Central College for two
years and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1951.
Moving to Centerville in the summer of 1951 she taught Centerville High School physical education until 1959 when she quit full-time teaching to raise her children.
In 1952 she founded and instructed the Centerville High School Cadets until 1978.
She was a substitute teacher for the Centerville School system from 1959 to 1990.
She was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian church, P.E.O., ITT, Mother's Club,
MXL and the Outlook Club.
Survivors include her husband Merle, a daughter Martha Breckenridge and her husband
Clint of Winterset; two brothers, Leo Bradley of Golden, Colo., Jack Bradley of
Ft. Madison and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
