Funeral services for Madge Alice (Fee) Vande Kamp, 94, of Knoxville, who died Tuesday,
Jan. 15, 2002, at West Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, were held Saturday,
Jan. 19, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. The Revs. Rick Streeter and Bryan Carpenter
officiated at the services. Music was provided by John Crawford, vocalist, and Jim
Kidder, organist.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Casketbearers were Kenny Smith,
Dick Beach, Randy Chambers, Steve BelIon Sr., Bryan Carpenter and Steve Vande Kamp.
Madge was born on Aug. 19, 1907, in Marion County, the daughter of Corwin Worth
Fee and Hattie (Roff) Fee. She was raised on the family farm north of Knoxville
and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1926.
She taught in rural schools for
three years, until she was united in marriage to Harry Vande Kamp on April 28, 1929,
in Knoxville. Madge and Harry farmed in Marion County for many years, moving to
town in 1973 after Harry suffered a stroke.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; two brothers, Pleasant
Worth Fee (P.W.) and Corwin (Buddy) Fee; and one great-grandson, Jeffrey Chambers.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Bernadine Vande Kamp
of rural Pleasantville and Bill and Jean Vande Kamp of Knoxville; a daughter and
son-in-law, Berneil and Randle Chambers of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;
three great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Knoxville or the Alzheimer's
Association.
