Mrs. Madge (Boydston) Bell, a resident of Columbia, S.C, for the pat twenty years, died at the Columbia hospital, at 8:15 a.m. September 11, 1951, after a very short illness.

The deceased was born, August 7, 1904, in Chariton, and was the daughter of Mrs. Bessie B. Boydston, now of Columbia, and the late Will D. Boydston.

Most of her early life was spent in Knoxville, where she graduated from the high school in 1922. Later she attended Coe college at Cedar Rapids, and entered the teaching profession. She taught in both Iowa and Florida, previous to her marriage to Samuel J. Bell, Jr., in 1929, at Lake Worth, Fla.

Mr. Bell preceded his wife in death in 1942. The deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Columbia. She is survived by her mother, a son Samuel J. Bell, III, of Columbia, an officer candidate at Fort Riley, Kans., and a brother, Charles E. Boydston of Beaumont, Tex.

She was the niece of Mrs. W.O. Robinson and B.E. Barnes, of Knoxville.

Funeral services were from the Dunbar funeral home, in Columbia, last Thursday with Rev James W. Jackson, her pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the Columbia cemetery by the side of her late husband.
