Lowell Thomas Phipps, 35, 716 Annie Glidden Rd., died July 16, 1976 at his home.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1940, in DeKalb, the son of Russell and Kathleen Baldwin Phipps.

He married Doris I. Sams in DeKalb on Sept. 10, 1960.

He was an agent for the Franklin Life Insurance Company for the past two years. Prior to that, he had worked for the DeKalb Fire Department for eight years.

Survivors include his widow; three sons, Neil, Brian, and Russell, all at home; his mother,
Mrs. Kay Gibford, Newton, Iowa; his father, Russell, Cortland;
one sister, Wilma Breckenridge, Newton, Iowa; and two brothers, William, Davenport, Iowa,
and Ted, with the U.S. Navy, Long Beach, Calif.; his maternal grandmother,
Mrs. Mynce Soto, Centerville, Iowa, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Nellie I Phipps, Clare.

He was a member of the Apostolic Gospel Church, DeKalb.
He was a deacon of the church and a member of the choir.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Donald L Brooks officiating.
Burial will be at Pierce Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wirtz-Roche Funeral Home from 2-5 and 7-9 Monday.
