Funeral services for Louise Mary (Denny) Roorda, 74, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Knoxville,
who died Sept. 8, 2004, at Woodlands Skilled Nursing Center on The Methwick Woodlands Community
campus in Cedar Rapids was held Monday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremations
Service in Cedar Rapids. Rev. Jack Kendall officiated. Interment was at Linwood Cemetery.

Roorda was born Aug. 3, 1930, the daughter of O.W. and Merle England Denny,
at home in Lucas, Iowa. She graduated from Knoxville High School after earning an
" Honor K" for her activities and accomplishments.

On Nov. 23, 1950, she married Jack Roorda, her high school sweetheart, in Knoxville. In her early years, Roorda worked in the County Auditor's Office and a local bank in Knoxville. After the children were raised she worked in the office for a lumber yard and a TV cable company.

The couple retired to Florida in 1991, and then returned to Cedar Rapids to the Methwick Community in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Jack; her children, Deborah (Richard) Manley of
Cedar Rapids, Douglas (Gena) Roorda of Davenport, Denise (Scott) Wilfong of Phoenix,
Az, and Dawn (Mark) Prosser of Storm Lake: nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many friends both here and around the country.

Memorials may be directed to the Methwick Brendel Pond Renovation Fund in memory of Louise Roorda.
