Funeral services for Lela Louise “Brownie” (Conrey) Holzworth, 91, of Knoxville, who died on Sunday, September 10, 2000 at her home, were held on Thursday,
September 14, 2000 at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Rev, Peter “Peterson officiated at the services.

Jim Kidder was an organist. Katie Davis was the soloist. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bryan and Brad Holzworth. Aaron Hancock, and Jeramy. Trevor and Adam Pettyjohn.

Louise was born on December 13, 1908 in Marion County, the daughter of Marion Albert “Bert” Conrey and Ella (Moore) Conrey. She was raised in Knoxville and attended school here, graduating with the class of 1926. After graduation, she was employed in the telephone office. Following her marriage to Lloyd Holzworth on June 8, 1932, Louise stayed home to raise her family.

She enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and sharing the crop with her friends.

She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1917.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son. Donald; three brothers, Woody. Martin and Clint; and five sisters. Wilma and Maurita Conrey, Pauline Glaspey, Alberta Loynachan, and Mildred Woodward.

She is survived by her son. John Holzworth of Omaha; two daughters. Donna Connell of LaPalma, Calif. and Ella Jane Stein of Louisville. Ky. a brother, Duane Conrey of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many other cherished family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or First United Methodist Church.
