Lorraine Virgina (Hamrick) Rankin was born on July 4, 1918, to Fredrick and Sylvia Blanche Hamrick in Knoxville.

She attended school in Knoxville; receiving her teaching certificate.

Lorraine taught in the Marion County area prior to her marriage. On Dec. 26, 1938, she married Grant D. Rankin. They raised their family on a farm near Bussey. The family attended Bussey United Methodist Church. Lorraine was active in the Church Circle, Eastern Star, Rebekah, and various other community organizations.

Lorraine remained active in the Methodist Church after moving to Nevada in 1963.
She returned to Knoxville in 1999. For the past several years, Lorraine resided
at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center in Des Moines. On June 26, 2007, with her
family present, she peacefully entered into rest at the age of 88.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Patricia Foley of Spokane, Wash., Grant A. Rankin and his wife, Priscilla of Bussey, and Robert K. Rankin and his wife, Karla of Johnston, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister Darlene Gleason of White Bear Lake, Minn., and many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Grant D. Rankin; her parents, and two brothers, Allen and Robert Hamrick.Lorraine Hamrick

Services were held at Williams Funeral Home on June 29 with Pastor Brent Hanna officiating.
The interment was in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
