Loren D. Wing, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 at Mitchell Village in Mitchellville.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Colfax.
Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Wing will be held on Friday at Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
Loren Wing was born on May 2, 1917, in Knox County, Missouri, the son of Walter Leroy and Anna (Ferguson) Wing. Loren graduated from Knoxville High School and attended Central College. He taught school in Otley for several years.
On Feb. 7, 1941, he was united in marriage to Mildred Maddy in Pleasantville. Loren was a 50-plus-year member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and AWANA Commander.
He also served as a 4-H leader, Jasper County Fair director, school board secretary, sports referee, Area 6 Guernsey director, dairy cattle judge, served on the Mid-American Dairymen Board, and on various school committees.
Loren has lived in the Colfax area for many years where he raised registered Guernsey cattle and farmed.
Loren is survived by his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Lila Maher and her husband Robert of Colfax, and Marilyn Kintz and her husband Michael of Elk Grove, California; three sons, Marlin Wing and his wife, Lael of Colfax, Darrell Wing and his wife, Darla of Colfax, and David Wing and his wife, Theresa of Des
Moines; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Metcalf and her husband, Stanton of Knoxville; and two brothers, Gale Wing and his wife, Leona of Prairie City, and Jack Wing and his wife, Marge of Winter Park, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Walter.
