Linda Kaye (Chamberlain) Bennett of Chariton, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola at the age of 79. To honor Linda’s wishes, no services are planned.

Linda was born to Noel Keith Chamberlain and Freda Fern Elwood in Chariton on August 3, 1944. She attended Knoxville High School, graduating in 1962.

Linda married Norris Bennett on January 10, 1969, merging their two families and living on the family farm. In the early years, Linda was busy raising five kids and helping Norris work the farm.

In 1978, Linda went to work for the Lucas County Law Center as a Dispatcher and worked at the Law Center until 2009 when she retired as the Head Dispatcher. Linda was a loving, caring generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Linda enjoyed helping others whenever she could and loved her family deeply.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Bennett, her parents, and brother-in-law, Jerry Hubler.

Linda leaves behind her children: Brenda (Bennett) Rothfus of Chariton; Jeff Bennett (wife Deb) of Geneva, Nebraska; Noranne (Bennett) Keller of Hartford; Steve Hayes (wife Marilyn) of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina and Kelly (Hayes) White (husband Luke) of Chariton; her sisters: Carol (Chamberlain) Hubler of Columbia and Lois (Chamberlain) Bishop (husband Bill) of Des Moines; grandchildren Sandy Cook of Indianola, Kathy Malli (husband Charles) of Pleasantville, Derek Storm (wife Nancy) of Des Moines, and Nicole Collins of Maquoketa; Justin Bennett (wife Amy) of Overland Park, Kansas, Christina Bennett of Los Angeles, California and Megan Nunns (husband Robby) of Geneva, Nebraska; Joe Keller (wife Laurie) of Carlisle, Jamie Keller (wife Mackenzie) of Indianola, Kalie KellerLinda ChamberlainNutt and Easton Nutt. (husband Isaac) of Memphis, Tennessee; Bridget White of Chariton and great-grandchildren Krystal Cook, Greg Cook (wife Cassie), and Brianna (Cook) Kiewel (husband Justin); Morgan Collins, Madison (Collins) Webb (husband Alex); Skylar Malli, Ben Malli; Natalie Collins, Kadie Collins, and James Collins Jr; Caroline Bennett, William Bennett, Macklynn Bennett, Raymond Bennett; Drake Nunns; Caeden Keller, Lynex Keller, Novak Keller, and Knox Keller. Great-great grandchildren: Hayden Cook, Laney Cook and Bennett Cook; Cash Collins, Eden Collins ,  Jude Collins; Twyla Davison; Lavue

Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and dear friends: John & Carol Osenbaugh, Elizabeth Poush, and Dennis Loynachan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ASPCA.
