Leo Eugene Kennedy was born on May 3, 1938 in Marion County, Iowa, the son of Marion
Dwight Kennedy and Flossie Fae (Faidley) Kennedy.

He graduated from Knoxville High
School and then worked construction for a few years in Fort Dodge. Leo returned
to Knoxville and worked for Pella Window Corporation in Quality Control.

In 1989,
he retired after 32 years of service. He also built and repaired boats all of his
life. Leo had worked on everything from simple fishing boats to lavish sailboats.
He was well known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He was honorably
discharged from the National Guard after eight years.

Leo passed away Tuesday, January
16, 2001 at his home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 62 years, 8 months.
and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor his memory
include six children: Dwight M. Kennedy, DeWayne Leo Kennedy, Dan Dean Kennedy and
Darcy Lynn Metcalf all of Knoxville, and Douglas Wayne Kennedy and Kimberly McAdoo
both of Oskaloosa: step-son, Bryan Rotz of Knoxville: 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild:
four brothers: Joe Kennedy, Cecil Kennedy, Carl Sailors, and LeRoy Sailors all of
Knoxville and many other family members and friends.
