Lester Lee Harrington, son of James Edward and Bessie Ann Morris Harrington, was born Nov. 18, 1901, on the family farm near Harvey, Ia. He passed away at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital Dec. 21, 1977, at the age of 76 years, one month and three days.

On Dec. 25, 1921 he was united in marriage to Olive Blanche Sandy of Percy, Ia. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in December, 1971.

Four children were born to this union: three sons and one daughter, Robert Stanley and Lee Eugene Harrington of Chariton, Hubert Joy Harrington of St. Louis and Olive Marie Rodgers, wife of Donald R. Rodgers of Knoxville.

Surviving are his faithful wife, Olive; four children; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Adair and Mrs. Charlene Barber of Knoxville; one brother, James T. Harrington of Harvey; three nephews; three nieces; cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter and one niece.

Lee was converted in 1916 during the Charles Harper Evangelistic Tabernacle meetings and united with the Methodist Church of Knoxville, Ia.

Lee was a graduate of the Knoxville High School class of 1920. He farmed in Clay Township, Marion County until 1942, when he bought a farm in Lucas County, Ia. Since retirement he has resided in Chariton, Ia.

Funeral services were held at the Fielding Funeral Home at Chariton, Friday, Dec. 23, 1977, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Terry Rohlmeier and the Rev. Fred Mansfield officiating. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
