Lawrence passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital
at the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 18 days.
Lawrence Burdette Woolsey was born on November 14,
1930 in Marion County, Iowa the son of Burdette and Alice (Vinson) Woolsey. He was
raised in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1948.
He farmed
with his father before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1951. He served
four years during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge in 1955 he returned
to Knoxville. Lawrence worked as a foreman for Maytag, in Newton, for 37 years prior
to retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, gardening
, and mowing.
Lawrence passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Knoxville Area
Community Hospital at the age of 80 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
son, Sheldon, and two sisters: Alberta DeGoey and Florence Milburn.
Those left to
cherish Lawrence’s memory including his daughter, Lynn (Brian) Shafer of Knoxville;
three grandchildren: Eric Richmond, Michael Richmond, and Jordan Shafer, and many
other family members and friends.
