Gene LaVern Pyle was born on Feb. 11, 1940, in Harvey, Iowa; the son of the late Donald R. and Freda N. (Wilson) Pyle.
He was called Verne at Knoxville High School in Iowa, one of our basketball stars, graduating with KHS Class of 1958.
LaVern was united in marriage to Patty Allen of Harvey, Iowa and they had three children.
He served his country in the United States Air Force. Gene had worked as an electrical engineer and retired in 1998. He was also responsible for many night vision systems supplied by Texas Instruments. Gene was always the go-to guy, always willing to go the extra mile whether at work or with friends.
On Oct. 2, 1998, he married Carolyn Seale (b. Jan 19, 1947) in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was of the Methodist faith.
Departed on Nov. 23, 2009, and resided in Clifton.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; children, Sherri Jones of Sachse, Kim Johnson of Plano, Donnie Pyle of Parker, Angie Valdes and husband Eric of Frisco, Wendell Saunders of Clifton; sister, Loretta Watson of Harvey, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Amber Johnson, Jordan Jones, Amanda Johnson, Justin Johnson, Cheyenne Saunders, Jake Saunders, Alexandria Valdes, and Aidan Valdes.
Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home of Hillsboro, Texas were in charge of services.
Burial at Pleasant View Jaw Bone Cemetery.
