Pat LauraBelle (Nichols) Buttrey was born October 13, 1931, in Marion County, Iowa to Robert and Tunnie (Onstank) Nichols. Pat was raised in Knoxville and graduated from the Knoxville High School, Class of 1949

On December 17, 1949, in Knoxville, Iowa Pat, and Donald Edgar Buttrey were married. They shared over 45 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children Marta, Bob, and Bill.

Pat lived in Knoxville all her life. She worked at the Overall Factory for several years in Knoxville and later at the Pella Overall Factory. She also delivered for several years with her sister Louise the Sunday Des Moines Register. Pat enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a former member of the Marion County Saddle Club, she bowled for several years, and she raised horses and helped with the Marion County 4H.

Pat died on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital of Knoxville at the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 24 days.

She was preceded by her parents Robert and Tunnie Nichols; her husband Donald Edgar Buttrey; and one sister Louise Work.

Pat is survived by her children Marta (Randy) Morse of Knoxville, Bob Buttrey of Tracy, and Bill (Deb)Buttrey of Knoxville; four grandchildren Dasha, Bobbi, and Lan Buttrey, and Erika Morgan; and one great-grandchild Logan Buttrey.

She is also survived by two sisters Bonnie Grunhaupt and Jan Carson; and one brother Tom Nichols.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Ruckman Cemetery of rural Knoxville, with Rev. Bill McDonald officiating.

Pat’s family will greet friends from 12 noon until 2 pm at the Prairie Village Community Center in Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Pat’s family.
