Graveside funeral services for Larry Eugene Morgan, of Harvey, were held on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Diana Pollard officiating. Vocalists:
Mike and Libby Miller and Dennis Seibert shared “I Won’t Have to Cross Jordan Alone”.
Casket bearers included Jay Stephens, Danny Brown, Jim Hurst, T.J. Van Veen, Tom
Essary and David Morgan.
Larry Eugene Morgan was born Dec. 27, 1935, in Oskaloosa, the son of Lester Farell
Morgan and Lucile Mary (Keller) Morgan.
Larry was raised in Harvey and lived there all of his life. He graduated from Knoxville
High School with the Class of 1955.
On April 6, 1956, he was united in marriage to Shirley Van Veen. Larry worked for
the railroad, drove a truck, and then went to work for Pella Corporation. He operated
a lift truck during most of his career at Pella. He retired after 30 years of service
in 1994.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. He
also loved using his International Tractor around his property.
Larry passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center, in Des
Moines, at the age of 77 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jerry, and a nephew, Dannie Morgan.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Shirley; sons: Jim (Peggy) of Knoxville and Gary of Denver, Colorado; two grandsons: Gary and Chris Morgan, and a great-grandson,
Isaiah Puckett and many other family members and friends.
