Kellie Lorraine (Adams) Gotta was born on April 14, 1958 in Creston, Iowa. She was one of three daughters born to Renabell Elmore and Doyle Lee Adams.
Kellie lived in Mt. Ayr and attended school there until the 10th grade. The Adams family moved to Knoxville in 1974. Kellie graduated from Knoxville High School in 1976. During her high school
years, Kellie played basketball, ran track, sang in the choir, and played in the band. Kellie attended Marshalltown Community College and earned her Certification as an LPN.
On February 3, 1979, Kellie was united in marriage to Timothy Eugene Gotta. To this union, two daughters were born. Kellie worked as an LPN for most of her adult life. He was employed by Knoxville Area Community Hospital, Griffins Nursing Home, Westridge Care Center, and the Knoxville Veterans’ Administration Hospital. She worked the last three years as Assistant Administrator of the Marion County Care Facility. Family and church were the center of Kellie’s life. She was an active member of the New Covenant Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ. She dearly loved her daughters and was very proud of the women they had become.
Kellie has a special love for her young granddaughter, Lily. She dearly treasured the time they had together. Kellie and Tim enjoyed doing yard work, especially raising flowers. There was always room in their yard for another flower. Kellie spent her spare time reading and shopping, especially at Wal-Mart. Kellie has a special knack for decorating and enjoyed making those personal touches to their home.
Kellie Lorraine Gotta passed away on April 18, 2005, at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella at the age of 47 years and 4 days. Her grandparents preceded her in death.
Those family members left to cherish Kellie’s memory are her husband, Tim of Knoxville; two daughters, Lindsey Stream of Oskaloosa and
Shannon Gotta of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Lily Stream of Oskaloosa; her parents, Renabell and Doyle Adams of Knoxville; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Linda and Harold Gotta of Knoxville; two sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Doug Balmer of Kellogg and Karmen and Mike Winters of Knoxville as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held for Kellie Lorraine Gotta on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at the New Covenant Baptist Church in Knoxville at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Craig Bex officiated at the celebration.
A private family interment was held at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
Casket bearers were Andrew Balmer, Doug Balmer, Clint Gotta, Steve Gotta, Dave Ridnour, and Mike Winters. Musical selections were “My Tribute” and “He Touched Me.” Kevin Stittsworth was the organist. Luanne DeZwarte and Rox-Anne Cox were the vocalists.<br
Memorials in her memory were given to Hospice Comfort House in Pella, Iowa. Williams Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
