Funeral services for Kathleen Ann (McKay) Swank, 50, of Otley, who died Saturday, August 5, 2000, at the Pella Regional Health Center, were held on Wednesday, August 9 at the First Baptist Church in Pella. Reverend John McNabb officiated at the services. Lena Vandenberg was organist. Special music was provided by Lynn Cooper.
Interment was at the Graceland Cemetery in Pella. Casket bearers were Daniel McKay, John McKay Robert McKay, Christopher McKay, Michael McKay and Robert Souva. Honorary casket bearers were Diana Kruse, Linda VanderWerf, Linda Hoff, Janet Houser and Rhonda Roozeboom. Special friends were Cara Garrett, Carol Budding, Jana Van Dyke and Lu Curtis.
Kathleen was born on May 15, 1950 in Knoxville, the daughter of Robert and Patricia (Bass) McKay. She grew up in Knoxville and graduated from the Knoxville High School. Following high school, she attended the American Institute of Business.
She was married to Jerry Swank on December 9, 1972, in Knoxville. She worked as
an insurance agent and office manager with McKay Insurance in Knoxville.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Swank of Otley; son, Chad Swank of Otley; daughter Holly Swank of Phoenix, Ariz.; six brothers, Chris McKay of Knoxville, Steve McKay of Des Moines, Dan McKay of Knoxville Bob McKay of Billingham, Wash., Mike McKay of Knoxville and John McKay of Mason City; two sisters, Pat McKay of Billingham, Wash. And Maggie Souva of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Pella. Arrangements were made by Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.
