Karen Kay (Sparks) Angove was born on June 28, 1939, in Knoxville to Walter
Sparks and Opal (Shotwell) Sparks. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1957.
During and after high school, Kay was a manager at Pinky’s.

On Nov. 11, 1959, she
married Larry Angove at the First Christian Church in Knoxville. Kay worked for
the Marion County Treasurer’s Office for a few years before she went to work for
the Knoxville School System. She worked as a cook for 25 years before she retired.

Kay was an avid collector of cookbooks and she enjoyed visiting with Nationals
fans that would park at her home. She had a sharp wit and everyone enjoyed visiting
with her. Kay’s greatest joy was her family; she will be remembered as a loving
wife, mother, and grandmother.

Kay passed away on July 3, 2007, at her home at the
age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband
Larry; three children, Steve (Diane) of Knoxville, Joyce of Des Moines, Laura Carlson
(Jeremy) of Knoxville; 10 grandchildren; and three siblings, Carmila Onstank, Lila
Carter and Richard Sparks all of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held on July 6 at Celebrate Community Church with Pastor Gary
Roozeboom, officiating Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.
