Austin M. Core Jr., 63, of 3807 Wakonda Drive died of cancer early Sunday, Nov. 24, 1985, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center,
after undergoing surgery about four weeks ago.

Mr. Core was born, on Apr. 15, 1922, in Des Moines, the son of Austin M. Core (1868 – 1951)
and Winifred O’Laughlin Core (1884 – 1957) and reared in Knoxville.

He was a 1940 graduate of Knoxville High School and the
American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

He was a 1st Lt U.S. Air Force bombardier in World War II and the Korean War.

For many years, Mr. Core was a manager in the subscription, circulation, and agency sales divisions for Look magazine.
He also coached the nationally ranked Look magazine women’s basketball team.

In recent years he had been an account representative with Communications Data Services, which provides subscriptions,
auditing, and other administrative services to scores of national magazines.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth A., who suggested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dunn’s Funeral Home, with burial at Knoxville.

No visitation reception will be held.
