The journey of life for Judith Maxine Simmons, a daughter of Pearl Simmons, began on September 24, 1953, in Knoxville, Iowa. She received her formal education at Knoxville.

Judy lived most of her life in Lovilla, Iowa with her three children: Chris, Autumn, and Fred. For many years she was employed at the Dairy Queen and then began employment at Pella Corporation in Pella, Iowa. She continued working there until her early retirement in 2000 due to her health.

Judy was a lover of games, spending time with friends playing bingo and pitch. She also enjoyed family poker night. Judy enjoyed the women’s bowling league and traveling with friends to many different places, but most of all she enjoyed girl’s weekend getaways.

As her health continued to decline, she made her home with her daughter, Autumn, in Knoxville until becoming a resident at West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center in April 2016.

Judy passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016, at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics in Knoxville at the age of 62 years.

Judy is survived by two children: Autumn (Martin) Derringer of Knoxville, Fred McCombs and his wife, Amanda, of Albia, Iowa; six grandchildren: Christopher and Saphyre McCombs, Ashlyn and Shalyn Derringer, AJ and Garrett McCombs; and one great-granddaughter, Cadence Derringer.

Judy leaves her mother, Pearl Minard, of Knoxville; and of her original family the following two sisters and a brother: Sharon and Warner Keegel of Columbia, Iowa, Rick and Alicia Minard of Harvey, Iowa, and Connie and Bob Fayette of Hot Springs, South Dakota and many nieces and nephews.
