Joyce Eileen (Martinache) Wensel, age 68, of Knoxville died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Thursday afternoon, June 19, 2008.

Joyce was born May 7, 1940, in Knoxville, Iowa to Gerard “Red” and Gracie Faye (DeMoss) Martinache.

Joyce attended and graduated from Knoxville High School. She later earned her bachelor’s degree from Simpson
College in Indianola. Joyce was a devoted wife to Max Wensel, a caring mother to their three children; Darcy Mincks and husband Charlie of Knoxville, Jason Wensel and wife Heidi of Oroville, CA, and Marek Wensel and wife Kelli of Cedar Rapids.

Joyce was an inspiration and a proud grandmother of six grandchildren; Lindsay and husband Phillip Hushand, Skylar, Taylor, Taryn, Payton, and Jamison Wensel; and a new caring great grandmother to great-grandson Carter.

Joyce is also survived by her mother, Gracie Martinache of Knoxville, and her brother, David Martinache
of Denver. Co. Joyce worked very hard as a wife, mother, and grandmother all at the same time.Joyce Martinache

She devoted much of her time to running the family business and shared her knowledge as secretary of the Landlords Association. She was an avid reader and enjoyed constantly learning new things to improve their business. She was a member of the First Christian church in Knoxville.

A memorial service was held in Joyce’s honor Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M., June 21, 2008, at the First Christian Church in Knoxville.
