Jon Paul Miller was born on August 20, 1948, to James and Virginia (Pearson) Miller in Knoxville, Iowa. He grew up on the farm on G76 and attended a country school. He was a 1966 graduate of Knoxville High School.
Jon met Judy Ann Phillips in Pleasantville. They were married on April 26, 1975. To this union, they were blessed with two children: Amanda and Jon Andrew. Jon was a very proud husband, father, and grandfather.
He spent 18 years working in the parts department at Wright Chevrolet in Carlisle before transitioning to a career at McKenna Truck Center, where he retired as the “best dadgum parts man around”.
His true love though was his farms and making improvements to them any way he could.
Jon was a man of many words, he did not know a stranger. He loved to talk and tell great stories. His personality drew people to him, and he acquired many, many friends throughout his lifetime.
His kids and his grandkids meant the absolute world to him, he was always sharing tidbits of knowledge with all of them.
He needed the interactions with others and was so excited to get back home and see everyone.
Jon had a love for traveling, as far as Mexico where he loved to dance on the beach, or trips to Canada where he‘d sleep on a rock and fish with his friends.
However, he still had that country boy in him and enjoyed country life and being on the farm. He loved to hunt, watch the geese, visit with guests who would stop by, and just enjoy the outdoors.
Jon often went to auctions where he found his finest junk and treasures.
Jon also found enjoyment in going to the races in Knoxville, where he had some friends in the suites he would socialize with.
He often went to morning coffee groups at Mr. C’s and McCorkle’s. He participated in the WHO tractor ride.
He rarely would miss an event that he was invited to, so if you didn’t want to see him there, it was best not to invite him.
Jon died May 19, 2021, and will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy; children: Amanda (Tom) Davros and Jon Andrew Miller; grandchildren: Morgan, Dakota, Molly, Rocky, and Deacon; great-granddaughter, Lainie; siblings: Mary Lou (Bobby) Bingham and Bill Miller; nieces and nephews: Christina Bartlett, David Bingham, Julia Fenoglio, Ben Bingham, Victoria Holdsworth, Jamie Miller, Kimmy Alton, Megan Phillips, and Michelle Ripperger.
