Jolene Marie (Anderson) Thomas was born May 13, 1957 in Knoxville. She was the
daughter of Margaret Marie Beaver and Ray Bean Anderson. She grew up in Harvey and graduated from Knoxville High School.
Jolene was united in marriage to Steve Thomas. The family lived in
Georgia for several years before returning to the Harvey/Knoxville area.
Jolene worked at Strawtown Inn, Pella Corp, Vermeer Manufacturing, Five Star and Knoxville Hospital.
Jolene Marie Thomas passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Hospice
Comfort House in Pella at the age of 52 years, 1 month and 18 days after a
seven month battle with cancer.
Those family members who preceded her in death were her grandparents, Kate and Jack Beaver and Inez and Fred Anderson.
Those family members left to mourn her passing are five children,
Stephenie Thomas, Nichole Deaver and her husband, Dennis Jr., Bryce and Brian Thomas of Knoxville and Ben Mauk of Des Moines; six grandchildren; Payton, Kira, Katie and Broderick Deaver, Kaleb and Kelby Thomas; her mother, Margaret Anderson of Knoxville; her father, Ray B. Anderson of Lovilia; one sister and her husband, Cheryl and Don Sparks of Knoxville; and three brothers, Eldon Anderson, Fred Anderson and his wife, Melonie, and Vincent Anderson of Knoxville.
Services were held July 6, 2009 at the Harvey Assembly of God Church
with Rev. Larry Peterson officiating. Interment was in Breckenridge
Cemetery, rural Marion County, Iowa.
Musical selections were “Amazing Grace´´, a CD by Mahalia Jackson, “O, Holy Night´´, a CD by Josh Groban, “Sissy´s Song´´, a CD by Alan Jackson and “I Look At You´´, a CD by George Strait.
Casket bearers were Cody Anderson, Dennis Deaver Jr., Benjamin Mauk, Adam Sparks, Brian Thomas and Bryce Thomas. Memorials were “To Her Family.´´
