Funeral services for Joella Mae (Porter) Snook, 74, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Knoxville,
who died on Thursday, May 17, 2001, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge,
were held on Monday, May 21, at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Rev. Maurice Johnston
officiated at the services. The interment was at Graceland Cemetery.

Joella was born
on October 1, 1926, in Dallas, the daughter of Joseph Leo and Opal Cleo (Wheaton)
Porter. She was raised in Dallas and during her junior year of high school, she moved
to Knoxville, graduating with the class of 1944. She began working at the Knoxville
Journal, before moving to Des Moines and working for the Veterans Administration
in 1948.

She married Robert H. Snook on April 2, 1950, and the couple resided in
Des Moines. The family moved to Mason City to start Bob Snook Sign Co. in 1956.
They resided in Mason City until Bob's death in 1969. Joella then moved back to
Knoxville to live near her family and friends, until recently moving to live near
her son in Fort Dodge.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Order
of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; grandparents,
Harry S. and Josie Wheaton and Orin and Minnie Porter; and her brother, Larry Porter.

She is survived by her son, Gary L. Snook of Fort Dodge; two sisters, Opal Oaks
of Rexford, New York and Donna Stockley of Earlville, Ill.; and many other families
members and friends.
