Memorial services for JoAnn (Simpson) May, 72, formerly of Knoxville, who died Thursday,
April 15, 2004, at her home in Austin, Texas, was held Monday, April 19, at the
Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Austin.

She was born on Jan. 24, 1932, in Hiteman, to Ralph and Amelia Simpson. She was
raised in Knoxville and attended Knoxville schools: She retired from Farm Bureau
Insurance of West Des Moines in 1986.

She was an active member of the Treasure of the Hills Senior Center in Cedar Park,
Austin, Texas.

She was an excellent card player, loved sewing, and enjoyed gardening. One of her
favorite pastimes was crafting toys for Blue Santa. She was a source of strength
and wisdom to her family, and she enjoyed life and laughter. Her love and caring
devotion touched the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Linda Snell.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Don May; a daughter, Nancy Hayter of Austin, Texas; a son, Jack May, and wife Joyce of Moline, Ill; two brothers, Bill
Simpson of Mitchell, S.D. and Ron Simpson of Knoxville; a sister, Peggy Stevenson
of Panaca, Nev.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
