James Paul Brees was born on September 12, 1982 in Pella, Iowa, the son of James
B. Brees and Kathryn J. (Umble) Brees.
Jimmy attended school in Knoxville, graduating with the Knoxville High School class
of 2001.
While in school he was very active in the Soccer Club. Following graduation, Jimmy
went on to study nursing at Indian Hills Community College. He was a fantastic cook,
working at many different eating establishments including Dairy Queen and Taso’s.
Jimmy loved his cats and his family very much. He was a member of St. Anthony’s
Catholic Church.
Jimmy passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines
at the age of 28 years.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Brees
Survivors include his parents, James and Kathryn Brees of Knoxville; siblings, Chad
(Gina) Smith of Knoxville, Alishia (Nate) Lindsay of Oskaloosa, Aaron Brees of Knoxville,
Sarah (Jordan) Grier of Pella; maternal grandparents, Paul (Margaret) Umble of Knoxville;
nieces and nephews, Lexi, Kennidy, Remy and Cail Smith, Zaida and Liam Lindsay,
Averi Grier along with many aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
