James LeRoy “Toade” Weldon was born July 7, 1940 in Knoxville, Iowa the son of Clarence Benjamin and Anna Katharyn (Hulse) Weldon.

Jim served in the Marines from June 1958-1968, with two tours in Vietnam. He later retired from Pella Rolscreen after 26 ½ years of employment.

His favorite hobbies were fishing and shooting range. Jim was a wonderful father, brother, and uncle. He loved spending time with his family. Jim never met a stranger. His trademark was his contagious smile and a gleam in his eye.

Jim passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa at the age of 74 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and three brothers: Clarence, Jr., Bob, and Ronnie.

Those left to cherish Jim’s memory include his daughters: Velma (John) Cecil of Leighton and Barbara Weldon of California; sister, Lois (Mike) Buss of Des Moines; grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

A funeral service for James “Toade” Weldon age 74 of Marshalltown and formerly of Knoxville will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s memory may be directed to his sister, Lois Buss, to be designated at a later date.
