James Edward Grimes, Jr. was born on May 1, 1956, to James Edward and Helen (Bambrook)
Grimes. Growing up, James lived in Albia and Fairfield before moving to Knoxville.
He graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1974. Following high school,
he attended Iowa State University, the University of Iowa and Des Moines Area Community
College where he received his RN degree.
On Feb. 23, 1980, he married Judy Cupp
Bilterman. He worked in Des Moines at Broadlawns hospital, then in the Huntington
Beach, Calif. area before moving to the Fort Myers, Fla. area.
Jim returned to Des
Moines in 2006. Jim enjoyed the Florida life, especially the beach. He loved pets
and his dog Baxter was a favorite companion.
Jim passed away on April 13, 2007,
at his home, in Des Moines, at the age of 50. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Judy in December of 2004. Those left to honor his — memory include his parents, Jim
and Helen; two brothers Bill (Peggy) and Larry (Shirley) all of Knoxville and many
other family members and friends.
Memorial services were held on April 18 at the
First United Methodist Church in Knoxville with Rev. Neil Montz officiating. Memorials
may be made to the family.
