Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Wheeler, who died August 19, 1970, at Collins Memorial Hospital, were held August 22 from the Williams Funeral Home with Rev. John Hickman officiating. Burial was in the Dallas Cemetery.

Casketbearers were nephews Earnest Biddle Jr., Lee Shives, Harry Shives, Otis Shives, Dean Crosby and Dan Crosby. Chapel music was provided.

Mary Jessie, daughter of Samuel R. and Mary Elizabeth McClain Shives, was born Jan. 3, 1913 at Columbia.

A Knoxville High School graduate, she taught school for a number of years. She was united in marriage to Wilbur Wheeler on Feb. 28, 1938 and lived their entire married life in Dallas.

Her husband, parents, one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, David and Lloyd, both in the Navy; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Crosby of Pella; and one brother, Burl Shives of Knoxville.
